Café Aroma moved to the Methodist Hall.
Now called the 3c's Café.
16th May 2008 saw our Café Aroma initiative, come to an end as the councils lease in the precinct, is up at the end of this month. Our thanks go to Sylvia and the youth team who first agreed to let us use the premises on a Friday morning and to the parish council for letting us continue after Sylvia and her team had returned to the youth centre following the Christmas break.
Special thanks go to Brenda who has invariably opened up for us in a morning and returned to lock up at lunch time.
Café Aroma has been a huge success regularly visited by between 30 and 40 people on a Friday morning who have come along to enjoy free fair trade tea and coffee and biscuits in a friendly welcoming atmosphere.
It has also provided an opportunity for people to meet and chat to myself, Revd. Michael and Revd. Helen in an informal situation and we have both enjoyed the conversations we have had with people immensely, But most of all it has been an opportunity for people from the local community to get together in a way that is not possible anywhere else in Killamarsh and for many it has been the highlight of their week accordingly many people have said how much they will miss it.
Of course Café Aroma does not run itself and our thanks go to all who have helped serve our guests including Tony and Ann Ward and Bernice Upton as well as all those who have stepped into the breech when Tony, Ann or Bernice have been unable to be present. I think I can safely say that we will all miss Café Aroma's location, but dispair not, the new 3c's Café has opened same times, 9am Friday mornings down in the Methodist Hall.
So a huge thank you to all who have supported Café Aroma over the past eight months and we hope to see you at the new 3c's Café .
CAFÉ AROMA March 7th 2008
A few of the comments received from our guests on March 7th.
“It’s a social meeting ground for old and young alike” Eleanor Penn
“I’ve enjoyed coming here. It’s been friendly and a nice atmosphere and very welcoming.” Stan.
“The atmosphere is very inviting as you walk in. Everyone has a smile on their face.” Trudy Grierson
“It is offering to restore faith in a troubled world. It’s the first step and when you sow a seed it will grow into a flower.” Joan Booth.
“We have had people from Sheffield and Mosborough. When you get 35 – 40 people in a two hour period it proves it’s been a success.” Tony Ward
“It’s a coffee morning bringing the church to the people” Betty Rhodes.
Just a few comments that express the feelings of most of those who have visited Café Aroma. We are currently looking for another Venue that will enable us to continuetaking the church into the community and remain true to our mission statement that is:-
TO BE CHRIST IN CHURCH AND COMMUNITY
