Operation Christmas Child. “Love in a Box”. We have been supporting the Samaritans Purse, Operation Christmas Child. Also known a "Love in a Box". We asked you to fill a shoe box with gifts and love. Operation Christmas Child sends a message of hope to children in need around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes. In 2007 St. Giles & St. Matthew’s collected more than 140 shoe boxes full of love and gifts. 2008 found 260 shoe boxes filled with love and brought to St Giles Church for the Samaritan's Purse. The number of boxes filled in 2009 exceded 450. Thank you to you all. An acknowledgement from the Samaritans Purse organisation is on show at the back of the church. |

Harvest Festival. St Giles holds a Harvest Festival in October at a 10am Service. Children from the Local Primary Schools are invited to create a masterpiece to help celebrate this year’s harvest. In 2007 over 50 Scarecrows were paraded in church by the children and there was a live “Wurzel Gummage” look-a-like and a clown to help the children remember the harvest festival. In 2008 we had the Vegimals were the children brought vegitable models of animals to church. In 2009 there was the sun flower competition, and hundreds of sunflowers were brought into the church grown by children and families of the Killamarsh community. |

Christingle Service. Each year at Christmas we have a special service. Our modern Christingle consists of: An orange representing the world; a red ribbon, tied round the orange representing the blood of Jesus; Fruits and sweets, skewered on 4 cocktail sticks which are pushed into the orange representing God's good gifts - the fruits of the earth and the four seasons; A lighted candle, pushed into the centre of the orange representing Christ, the light of the world |

Back to Church Sunday. Every Year in September we pray that people who have attended church before but no longer do so, will be personally invited to attend St Giles or St Matthew’s. Everyone is welcome, we hope a personal invite will encourage you to come back to Church and join us. |
